Operation Fearless All Out Day leads to positive results on Villa Road

An all-out day saw Operation Fearless officers joined by colleagues from across the force, and other partners, to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour on Villa Road.

As well as dealing with these problems head on, our officers wanted to be as visible as possible to engage with the community and listen more to any concerns or feedback they had.

Heading out early this morning (24 Sept), alongside our Mounted Unit and Neighbourhood Policing Teams, as well as community representatives, property licensing officers, and charity partners, the team issued three notices for breaching a Public Space Protection Order, as well as three community resolutions for theft offences, and three Community Protection Warnings.

These are important tools for our officers and partners in dealing with community safety, and we know they can have a real impact on improving the area.

We also seized six vehicles for not having tax, as well as an illegal e-bike.

Our teams visited properties including businesses and other addresses, and one property was found to be in breach of its licensing conditions – something which will now be followed up by our council partners.

Officers also carried out several stop and searches, as they continued to act on intelligence provided to them.

Acting Detective Inspector Chloe Morgan, from Op Fearless, said: “Partnership working has always been key to the success of Operation Fearless, and after listening to concerns from the community about Villa Road, we’re pleased to see some really positive results from this day of action.

“Our whole operation is based on tackling the type of crimes that people tell us are causing issues in the area, and we’ve been doing this since we launched in Handsworth.

“We’re showing the law-abiding community – and criminals – that this sort of activity won’t be tolerated in the area, and we’re grateful to the information and feedback that we’re receiving.

“What’s positive for our whole team is the positive engagement we’re continuing to have with the community, and we hope this continues.”

Operation Fearless has been working on the Soho Road and Handsworth Triangle since April.
